Yehuda - Everything I've seen written about Rails 3 is about how it enhances Rails 2.x. Can you please provide some insight into how Rails 3 differs from Merb 1.x? Does it offer any advantages?

A basic definition is hinted at in the name: "Rails tie", i.e., the code in Rails Core that ties parts of the framework together. Have a look yourself in the railties directory of the Rails source code. It goes to Github's page does not exist error page.

Last time I tried, DataMapper didn't worked on this kind of scenario... Don't know if supports now, through.

sasule,

That depends on the ORM that you use and has nothing to do with rails itself. Datamapper for one, supports this scenario. It allows you to setup models in different databases (each connected with the respective dm adapter) and relate these across those databases. I don't know if Sequel can do that too.

but will be possible merge different model like sequel and mongodb in relation onetomany?
For example:

Blog is a model sequel on mysql and Comment a Model in mongodb
and make this:

class Blog < Sequel::MODEL
 has_many :comments
end

class Comment < MongoDB::MODEL
 belongs_to :blog
end

Thanks for taking the time to explain the internals of Rails3. Quick question, does the new ActiveModel API assume a relational database? I'm really hoping for a Rails compliant CouchRest implementation.

Hello,

Again: isn't that a flaw that ActiveResource implements nothing of ActiveModel in Rails3 or did I miss something?

John, have a look at the first paragraph of the previous post in this series to get an idea of what Railties is. The post is located at Rails and Merb Merge: Rails Core (Part 4 of 6).

A basic definition is hinted at in the name: "Rails tie", i.e., the code in Rails Core that ties parts of the framework together. Have a look yourself in the railties directory of the Rails source code.
