Baron Schwartz
Baron is a Chief Performance Architect at Percona where he researches and develops tools and practices for Percona's consultants, speaks at conferences and events, and consults for a limited number of high-end customers. Baron is a member of Percona's Executive Management Team, and formerly served as Vice President of Consulting. He is the lead author of High Performance MySQL, 2nd Edition. Baron has created several well-known open-source software projects, including the Maatkit suite of administrative tools for MySQL users. He has also authored features for MySQL and InnoDB. Prior to joining Percona, Baron developed large-scale systems for B2B and B2C integration with companies such as Amazon.com, Yahoo!, and Google. He is the founder of the OpenSQL Camp conference series on open-source databases, which meets several times annually in the USA and Europe. Baron blogs frequently on database topics on the MySQL Performance Blog and Xaprb blog. He continues to publish under the O'Reilly imprint. He holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Virginia. Baron lives in Charlottesville, Virginia with his family.
