Server to Server Communication Using XMPP and Ruby
George Palmer (London, England)
Saturday, March 28, 2009XMPP traditionally allows us to send messages between humans but can easily be extended to send messages between servers. This is particularly useful in use cases such as automating system administration tasks, managing distributed computations or efficiently checking server status. This talk will look at Vetebra, a piece of technology developed by Engine Yard. I will show how to get up and running, how to handle addressability, the usefulness of the state machine and some examples of how we’ve been using it. The talk will (hopefully) finish with a demo.
