How Much Am I Really Going To Pay?
There is no single answer to this question because pricing is metered. Most Cloud customer use Small and High CPU Medium Instances which cost 11¢/hour and 20¢/hour, respectively, or roughly $79.20 and $144 per month (based on 720 hours a month).
In addition to instance pricing, you'll be paying for bandwidth, EBS storage and data transfer, and S3 storage and data transfer. These other costs usually run 7-8% of instance costs.
Most importantly, your ongoing costs are computed daily and displayed on your account screen in Engine Yard AppCloud, so you can always see exactly what you are spending at any time. There is no separate Amazon bill; all your costs are included in your Engine Yard bill.
Can I Cancel At Any Time?
Yes, you can cancel your Cloud account at any time. You will be responsible for paying for your usage up until the time that you cancel, but there are no cancellation fees. If you want to stop paying for your instances but don't want to migrate your data just yet, you can backup your application and data and terminate all running instances. As long as you leave your environment active, you will pay nominal costs for backup data storage.
