Making the Web Faster: Steve Souders to Keynote Distill

Speed. It’s the name of the game in the world of the web. And few people have taken on the problem of improving web performance with as much passion and effectiveness as Steve Souders.

In his books, High Performance Web Sites and Even Faster Web Sites, Steve lays down the foundation for what can be done to improve web application speed with concepts that were developed through years of experience at large web companies as well as time spent in the start-up trenches. His broad knowledge helps to show these concepts can be applied regardless of the size of an organization, making them fundamental tools for any person developing for the web.

Steve recently joined Fastly as their Chief Performance Officer. Prior to Fastly, Steve was the Head Performance Engineer at Google where he worked on web performance and open source initiatives. Prior to that he was Chief Performance Yahoo! and ran the Exceptional Performance and My Yahoo! teams. Steve has also worked at several small to mid-sized startups including two companies he co-founded, Helix Systems and CoolSync. But that’s not all! Steve is also a member of U.S. Masters Swimming and competes in open water swims.

We are very excited to have Steve keynote at Distill where he plans to reveal some of the key measures used to improve performance while sharing some of the tales of his journey to be the web’s fastest person.

Distill will take place on August 7-8, 2014 in San Francisco, CA. Tickets go on sale shortly. Sign up for a free 2 for 1 discount. It’s free to sign up but applications close on Friday, May 23rd.
