New Managed Support Offering Allows Customers to Rely on Engine Yard to Run and Manage Applications on Their Behalf
SAN FRANCISCO – February 19, 2014 – Engine Yard, the leading cloud application management platform, is delivering new features for customers that demand a high level of security for their cloud platform and require customized support for deploying and managing their highly scalable applications. The company is committed to meeting requirements for Service Organization Controls 2 (SOC 2) Type 1 and 2 audits. In addition, Engine Yard is providing options for customers to run apps that are covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The company also launched Managed support, which includes strategy, planning and managed services. Customers can rely on the expertise of support and professional services engineers to help them meet their growth and scaling needs. These new features underscore the proven security of the Engine Yard PaaS and enable companies to use the platform for high security applications, including e-commerce and healthcare.
“Companies are focused on ensuring the security of their confidential data, as they move their high security, business-critical applications to the cloud,” said Jeff Reich, chief security officer at Engine Yard. “By investing in our SOC 2 audits, delivering options for customers to run HIPAA apps, and adding managed support services to the Engine Yard platform, we are providing the key elements to help our customers build and implement their security and governance policies.”
As part of its investment in SOC 2 audits, Engine Yard is proving the rigor and discipline in its systems, policies and change management processes, which are tested and certified by a third party auditor. By demonstrating compliance with the accepted industry security requirements, the company is giving customers even greater assurance for running their applications on the Engine Yard platform.
“Due diligence on cloud service providers is accomplished by understanding the methodologies, processes, controls and technologies used for security, data privacy and data center operations. Third-party assessments and certifications can provide significant shortcuts to due diligence,” according to Gartner, "Look Before You Leap Into Cloud Computing," Gene Phifer and Jay Heiser, June 12, 2013.
Engine Yard has added features to enable customers to run healthcare apps that guarantee the security of confidential data and meet HIPAA regulations. Customers can now create instance options on hardware that is dedicated to their accounts only — a requirement for HIPAA and other high security applications. Customers also will be able to enter into a Business Associates Agreement with Engine Yard to meet the privacy rules of HIPAA.
Instance options on dedicated hardware are available now. For details on pricing, please visit: https://www.engineyard.com/pricing
