John Dillon, Chief Executive Officer

John has thirty years of experience building successful technology companies. He began his career as a systems engineer for EDS (Electronic Data Systems) and then held sales management positions at various high tech companies including Oracle Corporation. Over the past fifteen years, John has served as president and CEO for Hyperion Solutions and CEO for Salesforce.com. From 2002, John served as CEO for Navis, LLC, a private company specializing in software systems for operating large marine container terminals and distribution centers. John holds a B.S. in engineering from the United States Naval Academy and an M.B.A. from Golden Gate University. He served on active duty in the nuclear submarine service for five years before beginning his civilian career.

Alan Cyron, Chief Financial Officer

Alan is responsible for the company’s finance, administration, human resources and legal organizations. He has more than twenty five years of financial experience, leading both public and private companies through growth and organizational change. After an extensive banking career at a predecessor of JPMorgan Chase, Alan has been the CFO of four companies, Paragon Trade Brands, Inc., MobileAria, Inc., Axis Systems, Inc and Navis, LLC. Prior to joining Engine Yard, Alan was CFO of Navis, LLC, a private company specializing in software systems for operating large marine terminals and distribution centers throughout the world. Alan holds a B.S./B.A. in finance from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. in finance from New York University.

Jim Burleigh, Chief Operating Officer

Jim is responsible for the company’s sales, support, professional services, marketing and community organizations. He has over twenty five years of experience in sales, marketing and technical executive leadership positions in a broad range of successful technology companies and a strong record of achievement as a SaaS (Software as a Service) executive, strategist and entrepreneur. Prior to joining Engine Yard, Jim was CEO of Cloud9, a provider of sales forecasting and big data analytics solutions. Jim has also served as CEO of SmartTurn, a company that he founded as a subsidiary of Navis, delivering SaaS warehouse and inventory management solutions, and as a senior executive at RedPrarie, Navis and Salesforce.com, where he was the sixth employee and held positions including vice president of business development and vice president of marketing and product management. Jim holds a B.S. in engineering and applied science from the California Institute of Technology.

Rob Walters, Chief Technology Officer

Rob is responsible for leading the company’s technology strategy and product organization. He has over twenty years of experience using and creating technology to solve business problems. Before joining Engine Yard, Rob was vice president of cloud product at SunGard Availability Services where he was responsible for cloud strategy and delivery. He has held product roles in the cloud/managed services space at The Planet (now SoftLayer) and Rackspace, and before that in enterprise software with HP and EMC. Rob holds a B.S. in psychology from the University of Westminster, an M.S. in computer science from the University of London and an M.B.A. from Cornell University.

Paul Melmon, SVP of Engineering

Paul is responsible for leading the company's engineering organization. Paul has been an innovative product leader in Silicon Valley for over twenty years. Most recently, Paul ran global engineering for the workforce optimization business at NICE systems, after NICE acquired Merced Systems where he ran engineering. Prior to Merced Systems, Paul led engineering at Hyperic, an open source application monitoring company acquired by Spring Source, and Wily Technology, the creator of application performance management for Java, which was acquired by CA. Prior to Wily, Paul was chief information officer of pets.com. Paul has also held engineering roles at HP, Sybase and Scopus Technology early in his career. Paul holds a B.S. in Computer cience and Math from University of California, Davis.

Marcy Campbell, SVP of Global Alliances & Business Development

Marcy is responsible for the company’s business development, channel sales and partnerships worldwide. Prior to this role, she was vice president of worldwide sales at Engine Yard. Marcy brings over twenty years of sales management and business development experience from companies including IBM, Lotus, Moonlight Systems and Netscape Communications. Prior to joining Engine Yard, Marcy was vice president of enterprise sales at Jivox, ran worldwide OEM sales for CA and was an entrepreneur in residence for Bay Partners, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm. Marcy holds a B.A. in history and a B.A. in communications from the University of Hartford.

Jennifer Chow, VP of Marketing

Jennifer is responsible for the company's corporate marketing, community marketing and lead generation activities. Jennifer has over fifteen years of experience in marketing, product marketing and product management in the high technology software and cleantech industries. Prior to joining Engine Yard, Jennifer was vice president of marketing at Marketron, the largest provider of software solutions for the media industry. Jennifer also served as vice president of marketing at CPower, a cleantech company that was acquired by Constellation Energy. She has also held marketing and product management roles at SAP, Comergent Technologies and Oracle Corporation. Jennifer holds a B.S. in Economics and an M.B.A from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Jeff Reich, Chief Security Officer

Jeff leads the company’s security, compliance and policy efforts. He brings over thirty years of working in the security and risk management fields to Engine Yard. Jeff is an ISSA Distinguished Fellow and holds CRISC, CISSP and CHS-III certifications. His extensive background includes security policies, information security, internal controls, physical security, regulatory and audit compliance, business continuity planning, abuse and policy enforcement management and change control. Prior to joining Engine Yard, Jeff was the chief risk officer at Layered Technologies after holding positions at the Institute for Cyber Security, Rackspace Hosting, CompuCredit, Interland CheckFree and Dell. Jeff holds a B.S. in education and general science from Westfield State College.
